This hands-on program for ages 4-8 gives young learners a chance to think like paleontologists and explore the world of dinosaurs. 

All programs are drop-in!

Baby Playgroup

Tuesdays from 9:30-10:00
May 14-June 18 and July 9-August 6

Board books, music, songs, rhymes, and play time with toys for children from birth to 2 years.

Preschool Story Time

Tuesdays from 10:30-11:15

Stories, songs, flannel boards, and crafts for ages 2-6

Preview of 2013 Summer Reading Program

in the Kent Children’s Room

Almost 200 children participate every year in the Collaborative Summer Library Program.  This national program helps motivate children to read, enabling them to maintain their reading skills during summer vacation.  This year we will explore the wonders under our feet as we “Dig into Reading.”  We will excavate dinosaur bones, plant a butterfly garden, dig up some classic children’s stories, make some fun crafts and read about all things underground.

  Dig into Dinosaurs with the Boston Museum of Science Traveling Programs

This hands-on program gives children ages 4-8 a chance to think like paleontologists and explore the world of dinosaurs.  Children will interact with real and model fossils, study a simulated dinosaur trackway and excavate a replica field site.

 Mad Science of Maine

Mad Science educators will take us on an underground adventure to learn about the science that happens beneath our feet! Through an interactive presentation, we will learn about the layers of the earth by turning an audience member into an “Earth Layer Cake”.   We will see a simulated geyser, learn why Stalagmites are so cool, and even watch a volcanic explosion.

You can take a look by following the link to the left.  (The first thing you’ll notice is that our collection is no longer divided between Adult and Children.  Everything’s in one collection.)  You can log onto your own record by clicking on “My Items” and then logging into your patron information.  To log in you will use your last name and patron ID number (on your card).  Call if you don’t know your number or if you have any problems at all!

You can now both renew and reserve online.   If, after searching for a title you find it’s checked out, scroll down to “Location information ” and there you will find the item’s due date.  Reserve it there.   After reserving, go back to My Items and you will see where you are on the reserve list.
